1905 Hickory Golf Clubs

James Braid was the dominant player of the early 1900s. He pointed out in his book, “Advanced Golf” that if you haven’t yet played dot punched irons and still playing smooth face, you should try them.

In the first 10 years of the new century, players were learning how to play the game with the new “rubber core” balls. The clubs became smaller in size than the 1890s clubs but still maintained a bit of heft. The shafts became a bit more firm for control of the more energetic ball.
